Aims of the Course
|
To ensure the candidate is competent in the safe handling and operation of a brushcutter.

Who is the Course for
|
Anybody operating a brush cutter and needs to prove competence in the handling of these potentially dangerous machines. This can include agriculture, horticulture, equine, utility companies, forestry, amenity etc.

Course Content
|
- Legal and statutory legislation related to brush cutters
- Pre-start checks and basic servicing
- Risk assessments of the machine and the site
- Recognise and operate all the controls
- Inspect brush cutter and comment on serviceability
- Sharpen brush cutter blade
- Service nylon head
Operate the brush cutter on site:-
- Adjust harnesses correctly
Operate brush cutter with different techniques
- Operate brush cutter on various terrains
- Post operation expectations and reporting defects

What to bring
|
Serviceable brush cutter, operator’s manual, pen and notepaper, rigger gloves, face visor, ear defenders, steel toe capped boots, working trousers adequate to protect legs against flying debris (to EN166) and nylon and brush cutter head.
NB - the wearing of adequate personal protective equipment is insisted upon by the Health & Safety Executive and must be worn on this course.
