Aims

To provide training and qualifications in safe methods of supporting excavations using traditional and proprietary systems.

Course Content

• Natural Strata - soils and angle of response, weathering
• Satutory Regulations - Inspections, reports, permits, H&S etc.
• Support to Shallow & Medium trenches and Shafts in firm, moderately firm and loose ground.
• Erection of Trench Sheets or Timbers using various methods.
• Hydraulic Shoring
• Trench Boxes - types and uses.
• Steel Sheet Piling using frames and hammer/vibrator driving systems.
• Striking and Backfilling
• Inspection and Examination of excavation faults.

Course Method

This couse is delivered using a high proportion of practical exercises supported by classroom theory and exercises.
