BTEC Entry Certificate in Skills for Working Life and Life Skills
The Entry Level BTEC Certificates support the widening participation and inclusive learning agenda. They are, therefore, suitable for a wide range of learners:
those seeking to develop greater independence
those with specific learning needs
14–19 year old learners who require a vocational curriculum
disaffected learners
those who have not yet achieved formal qualifications
This qualifications gives learners the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of a range of skills and vocational experience of the world of work. They are designed as an introduction to the workplace and will enable progression to other qualifications. In addition they provide a platform for the delivery and assessment of key and basic skills.
Learners also have the opportunity to practice and develop the life skills needed to participate fully as members of their communities and as citizens in the wider community. Learners are not required to have prior achievement or qualifications. It is expected, however, that they will have some word and number skills.
Progression
These qualifications are designed to enable vertical and lateral progression(1-3). Vertically the learner could be expected to progress through the entry sub-levels and then to a level 1 or into work. .* Subject to approval
