BTEC Introductory Certificate

The student will be looking at the jobs available within the land-based sector, researching and analysing the skills and training needed to enter work. They will be working with animals and equipment they would encounter in the workplace. Personal safety and welfare issues are part of assignments they will be working on.

BTEC Introductory Diploma

Continuing on from the certificate and with more in depth work, the diploma student will be looking hard at their own personal effectiveness in gaining employment. The need for a wide and flexible range of skills to meet a changing  and challenging job market. Visits and lectures will enrich and stretch the diploma student’s knowledge base, giving them a broader experience of the needs of the workplace   

Progression

The student can progress onto further training or employment in a range of areas related to the land and environment sector. Potential careers can be working with animals in zoo’s, pet shops, Farms, veterinary surgeries or within the agricultural supply industry.

Further education routes on level 2 programmes can enable the student to move into higher education.
